Servaccomm, recently won a prestigious contract to design, manufacture and install 1100 square metres of single-storey office and welfare accommodation block on the site of the old Ferrybridge ‘B’ power station in West Yorkshire, for prestigious French building material suppliers - Lafarge. Beating off stiff competition, Servaccomm were successfully awarded the contract over four well-known competitors, based on a combination of design specification and their commercially viable budget proposition. After minimal meetings, Lafarge offered the contract to Servaccomm, as their preferred choice.
Mike Kendall, Engineering Manager for Lafarge, continues, “Servaccomm were definitely the most visionary, and their submission was a genuinely innovative response to our needs. The other four applicants added little value to the brief and didn’t take care to understand Lafarge’s needs. In the end, the decision to award the contract to Servaccomm was made easy by their attention to detail and understanding of our requirements”.
Lafarge, who boast 237 locations internationally, with an annual turnover of £1 billion, constructed a manufacturing plant for their building division on the site of the old power station. The new manufacturing plant was purposely constructed adjacent to Ferrybridge ‘C’ power station, which produces Gypsum (a bi-product from the power station) to use in their plasterboard production – a more economical solution than transporting materials.Servaccomm were asked to provide office accommodation to support the administration team, and running of the manufacturing plant. Single-storey office accommodation was manufactured in a record six weeks off-site at Servaccomm’s manufacturing plant.
The bespoke-finished modular building, with office space of approximately 1100 square metres, was transported to site and installed on prepared foundations over a period of four days. The office accommodation provides a uniquely designed reception area, meeting rooms, senior management offices, together with a main boardroom, toilet and washroom facilities. The building also boasts full cool/heat climate control air conditioning; IT, data and power, all contained within trunking; low energy and CATT 11 lighting to all office areas.
“Servaccomm boast a vast amount of experience of working within both the private and public sector, providing purpose-built and fully equipped buildings to suit any requirements and specifications” concludes Geoff Bunney, National Sales Manager for Servaccomm.
