Hykeham Sailing Club

Servaccomm hoist the main sail and anchor a clubhouse to offer sailing at its best, in North Hykeham

Servaccomm, one of the UK’s leading design and manufacturers of bespoke modular buildings, were contacted last summer by Lincoln-based leisure organisation – Hykeham Sailing Club – who were in need of an accommodation solution for their 180 acre lake occupation.

Hykeham Sailing Club

Project size: 173 square metres of single storey modular building manufactured in six modules

Hykeham Sailing Club was formed in 1985 by the amalgamation of two local sailing clubs, Lindum and Rustons, who had both occupied the water since the early 1960s from separate premises. Located to the south of Lincoln, the Club offers superb sailing to both the casual or racing sailor, along with windsurfing facilities and a thriving model boat section. Affiliated to the RYA (the Royal Yachting Association), the club is also used by the Lincoln and District Schools Sailing Association.

The popular Hykeham Sailing Club, who offer ‘family sailing at its best’, felt it was time to sail the Club into the next century after the non-stop rain of 2007 began to drip its way into their club premises. The Club wanted to offer their members, and the public alike, a clubhouse also at its best.

The modular offsite nature of Servaccomm’s construction system allowed the majority of work on the clubhouse to be completed in a quality-controlled factory environment - with power, lighting, heating and plumbing already installed. The modular building was then delivered to the North Hykeham site, connected to mains services and was ready for use within a prompt two weeks, on time and on budget.

John Peters, Hon. Treasurer of Hykeham Sailing Club, explains,
“The Club required a quick solution to replace the deteriorating clubhouse - without the disruption and chaos that an onsite build can create. After hearing of Servaccomm’s offsite building expertise, we consulted them immediately. Servaccomm’s adaptable approach offered the Club a bespoke design, manufacturing and installation service.”

John Gilfoyle, Managing Director for Servaccomm.
“Servaccomm have a vast amount of experience of working within both the private and public sector. As with the Hykeham clubhouse, we are able to provide purpose-built and fully equipped buildings to suit any requirements and specifications.”
